Just like its official flower- white trillium, Ontario is a state full of beauty. The beauty lies in how diverse it is with respect to history, culture and landscapes.

Ontario is Canada’s second largest and the wealthiest province, and more than 13,650,000 people live here. It is the home to Nation’s capital- Ottawa and most populous city- Toronto.

The earliest known inhabitants of the Ontario region included the Iroquoian-speaking agricultural Huron, Tionontati, and Erie peoples of the south and the hunting AlgonquinOjibwa, and Cree peoples of the north. The history of Ontario has been shaped by the immigrants who arrived and built the province from the ground up.

Ontario is known for its natural diversity- vast forests, beautiful parks, four of the five Great Lakes and the world-famous Niagara Falls. Niagara Falls is a series of three waterfalls situated on the border of Ontario and New York, Queen Victoria Park has also become a prime tourist spot from where Niagara Falls can be viewed under fireworks at night.

Located at the meeting point of three rivers, Ottawa is a beautiful green city. People here speak English and French. Byward market, National Library and archives, Parliament hill are some of the lovely spots to see.

Toronto is the cultural hot spot of Canada. Located on the shores of Lake Ontario it is one of the most popular tourist attractions. With beautiful beaches, tall skyscrapers, restaurants, museums, to outdoor concerts, there is no end to entertainment here.

Ontario’s central location, its proximity to U.S. markets, its cheap power, its large and skilled labour force, its abundant natural resources and its general attractiveness investment have made its economy the most productive in Canada.  all types of industries are present here, the auto industry, being the main international manufacturing sector. With a booming economy, there are plenty of job opportunities in Ontario. People here work in the agriculture, information technology, mining, tourism sectors and paper industry.

Minimum wage in Ontario is CA$11 per hour. The average annual family income in Ontario is roughly CA$75,000. Toronto and Ottawa are some of the world’s most liveable cities, known for their cleanliness, safety and availability of services.

 

This high standard of living has made Ontario the top destination for new immigrants to Canada. Of the over 250,000 people who come to Canada to become permanent residents each year, up to half settle in Ontario.
